Jamie began her journey to writing and illustrating children's books at 8 years old. She would sit at her grandma's table for hours writing short stories and drawing pictures about animals and nature.
She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education in 2007 and her M.A. in Literacy Education in 2010. She spent five years working as a Reading Teacher in Illinois until she felt the ocean calling her. In 2011, she moved to Southern California. There she began working privately as a reading specialist in Orange County and getting involved in the local surf community. These two passions combined to facilitate a strong desire and vision to create high-quality picture books that would educate our future generations about protecting the planet and its animals. She hopes to create many books that spark awareness, compassion, and motivation in children to be kind and caring members of society.
Jamie’s inspiration comes from her time in nature, whether surfing, diving, traveling, or observing wildlife in their natural habitat. She also enjoys writing music, cleaning up the beach, and connecting with her family and friends.
