Jamie began her journey to writing and illustrating children's books at 8 years old! She would sit at her grandma's table for hours writing short stories and drawing pictures about animals and nature.
The love of teaching and reading led her to earn her B.A. in Elementary Education in 2006 and her M.A. in Literacy Education in 2009. She spent five years working as a Reading Teacher in Illinois until she felt the ocean calling her. In 2011, she moved to Southern California where she began working privately as a Reading Tutor, getting involved in the surf community, and becoming an advocate for the environment and its animals. Her favorite thing about surfing is watching the dolphins play in the waves and enjoy freedom in their habitat.
She hopes to create many books that spark awareness and compassion in children for the planet and its animals. She believes that by doing this, they will grow up to be kind and caring members of society.
Jamie spends her time tutoring, mentoring, creating, and supporting rescue and sanctuary initiatives in her community. In her spare time, she enjoys surfing, writing music, cleaning up the beach, and connecting with her family and friends.
